1. Einen Tag blau machen
literal translation: "to make one day blue"
Means that you skip work
2. Einen Bären aufbinden
literal translation: "to tie a bear on somebody"
Just a very funny saying of "lie to somebody"
3. Von jemandem eine Scheibe abschneiden
literal translation: "To cut a slice off of somebody"
In english you would say "One can take a leaf out of his book." German one is way more brutal ;)
4. Auch ein blindes huhn findet mal ein Korn
literal translation: "Even a blind hen sometimes finds a grain of corn."
I sugget this also exisist in english with the same meaning
5. Geld aus dem Fenster werfen
literal translation: "throw money out of the window"
has the same meaning like to throw money down the drain
6. Mit dem Kopf durch die Wand
literal translation: to beat one's head against a brick wall
Im not sure if this existst in english. It means something like to be determined to get one's way
