When people assess characters outside their own society - Putin, say - they often use the principle of "my enemy's my enemy". Many western rightwingers liked Putin because he opposed their enemies: feminists, gay people and Hillary Clinton. Sometimes, though, your enemy's enemy is just a war criminal.
Though I don't agree with all the assertions in this article (e.g. I find it's way too early to evaluate Brexit), I agree to the wider point - that people resort to simplism when confronted with complex problems. The world and human society is highly complex, and instead of simplism and conspiracy theories, we need more rationality, intellectual humility and fallibilism (the notion that no beliefs are certain, info_1, info_2).

Bei der Beurteilung von Personen außerhalb der eigenen Gesellschaft - zum Beispiel Putin - gilt oft das Prinzip "der Feind meines Feindes ist mein Freund". Viele westliche Rechte mochten Putin, weil er sich gegen ihre Feinde stellte: Feministinnen, Homosexuelle und Hillary Clinton. Manchmal ist der Feind deines Feindes aber auch nur ein Kriegsverbrecher.
Obwohl ich nicht allen Behauptungen in diesem Artikel zustimme (z.B. finde ich, dass es viel zu früh ist, um den Brexit zu bewerten), stimme ich der allgemeinen Aussage zu, dass Menschen zu starken Vereinfachungen greifen, wenn sie mit komplexen Problemen konfrontiert werden. Die Welt und die menschliche Gesellschaft sind hochkomplex, und anstelle von (naiver) Vereinfachung und Verschwörungstheorien brauchen wir mehr Rationalität, intellektuelle Bescheidenheit und Fallibilismus (das Prinzip, dass keine Überzeugungen sicher sind, info_1, info_2).

A muchos derechistas occidentales les gustaba Putin porque se oponía a sus enemigos: las feministas, los gays y Hillary Clinton. A veces, sin embargo, el enemigo de tu enemigo es simplemente un criminal de guerra.
Aunque no estoy de acuerdo con todas las afirmaciones de este artículo (por ejemplo, creo que es demasiado pronto para evaluar el Brexit), estoy de acuerdo con el punto más amplio: que la gente recurre al simplismo cuando se enfrenta a problemas complejos. El mundo y la sociedad humana son muy complejos, y en lugar de simplismo y teorías conspirativas, necesitamos más racionalidad, humildad intelectual y falibilismo (la noción de que ninguna creencia es segura, info_1, info_2).
