It's a new week and the solstice. It means, for us, that the days begin lengthening. We hate winter, but it's our rainy season and we need rain. So it's a bit of love, too. Yesterday and today are unseasonably warm. Usually, that's a harbinger of rain. I hope so.
The aloes in our garden continue their spectacular show.
The A. Ferox are going over, but the hybrid is showing off like never before. The birds love them. I always hope to photograph the pretty sunbirds and malachites, but of course, it's in the middle of something else and/or my hands are full. I managed a rear view of a masked weaver.
Through the front door. That's about a meter away. The moment he sensed my movement behind the glass, he was gone, so no shot of his spectscular beak and yellow and black colours.
The week begins for me as it usually ends: in the kitchen. Unusually. Because the electricity powers (ha!) that be, are working on the system. Losing a day's work doesn't jive for me, so I am cooking with gas (as I always do, and a choice partly prompted by eternal power outages): marmalade (lemon this time) and koeksisters.
Oh and later, a friend is popping by for, among other things, to see the kokerboom in person, so to speak.
The longer post I am working on (trying to keep promises), will have to wait.
Until next time, be well
