The situations have been piling up here in Montenegro. At the one hand it's a beautiful country, an amazing landscape and a way of life that feels way more natural compared to the overly busy Western ways we have grown up with.
Here family counts for something, and connections are everything. It's honest in that way, some would say for the worst, I honestly say for the better.
But ever since we came to this country it's been challenging, mainly because it's freakin' drama season on the world stage and literally everywhere has been turned upside down.
It's become somewhat narrow, and we feel we are getting stuck somehow where we wanted to keep moving whenever we felt this way. But we have somehow forgotten to do so lately and are instead digging ever deeper into being here without quite feeling what our hearts are saying. Our hearts like it here but they also tell us to not be naive and to not stop now. There is more coming! Other places! Other faces!
I'm not saying it's all bad but it is challenging. The stark contrast between our original wish for this travel voyage vs. how it turned out so far is reminding is that we want to meet people who we can build something with, people on a similar mission. This here is just an important stop, but not that destination. It's been a good experience, but since this week we have been feeling a deep wish to move on. Move on to somewhere. Greece sounds pretty amazing right about now, and it may just happen provided we can find a way to leave this place in a month or two.
We still have some things to do and people to meet, family will come visit and there is still some experiences to be had here, but really what we are craving is meeting the others out there. The digital and diesel-nomads who - despite all the resistance - have taken it on themselves to move out of their comfort zone to experience life on the road, and to build something new. To create synergies.
We miss to dance at a party, and there literally is no psy scene in Montenegro which feels like a void to me, as opposed to places like Greece that has parties going on regularly.
Summer is in full swing and though we have gotten used to it, we may just shift locations with the shift of the seasons. Things feel more straight-forward, the way Greece is setting up in our intuition these days and I am keen to see the day when we leave Montenegro behind for a while.
We will be back, and we are not done here yet. But finally we have the clarity to say: This place might not be the one we choose to stay longterm.
How freeing <3
