Diary Entry 23 DEC 2024 [1]
How was the day?
It was alright, not the best, not the worst. Holidays have started till New Year's (and I am taking an extra week) and there was a lot I had planned to do. But lethargy won over and for the better part of the day I was either sleeping or lounging around. Thankfully the weather is quite pleasant so it felt nice.
Towards evening I started getting back on my machine and perusing through Hive content, trying to understand it better. Read a lot of posts by erikah, jacobpeacock, and sidwrites, and many others. (for those wondering why I am @'ing the names - that's one of the things I learned. Don't unnecessarily @ people unless it is very relevant, or someone you already know)
Also checked out a nice discussion over on YouTube at the time Hive was forked https://www.youtube.com/live/NcQ3LLkaIiw?si=msqfVIBptK-MOBvF
It was nice to go through it though I still have a lot more reading to do. In particular, I am getting very intrigued by the blockchain itself, but will try not to focus on that till I understand everything else first š
Reading plans for the holidays
I need to get a lot of reading in both work-related as well as my own TBR list. For work, I need to do some course material in Data Camp. Also will try and read through the following book to see if I can get myself ready to take the Security+ exam for a CompTIA Security+ certificate.
The book I am reading for this test is the following book from O'Reilly
On the personal front, the books I want to try to read are :
The Storyteller: Tales of Life and Music
I am looking forward to this. I love musicians' autobiographies and have been intrigued by David Grohl and all he has done for the longest time.UNIX: A History and a Memoir
I have been reading this book on and off for the last many years. Will probably start reading from the top again just to enjoy it in its entirety.Think Julia
It would be great if I could run through this book. Julia is an interesting new language and I feel like it will be a good one for me to learn. Another O'Reilly book.
Writing over the holidays
- Get into a writing practice using this blog as a whiteboard if needed.
- Write the introduction post for this blog that I keep putting off. The issue, dear readers, is not that I don't know what to write - it is more like what to cut. That is the big weakness in my writing, editing/summarizing. Something I need to get better at.
- Get the jottings written down for my professional side, to start the work year with a clear set of agreed goals.
- Write a few proposals that have been pending due to other important work.
Other projects
- Continue to understand Hive.
- Work on a couple of application ideas I have.
- Step out of home and exercise
Looking Forward To.
The thing I am looking forward most to is meeting friends and family who will be traveling down to Pune at various points through the next two weeks. Nothing gets my energy refilled better than meeting great friends and family.
Here's putting on a positive attitude and committing to do it all :) If you still here reading thank you for your time. Hope you have a wonderful week ahead too and you too can start on things that have been pending for quite a while.
Such posts might not be interesting for most. My apologies. I will try and mark them as Diary Entries to differentiate them from other posts. I am planning to put these diary entries from time to time for my second brain and knowing me they could get rambling :) Read at your own risk ā©
