Greetings, friends! For this latest drawing, I’ve painted the card for the game i136 Otamatone. This is a charming, modern musical instrument. It consists of a handheld synthesizer featuring the curious shape of a Pac-Man. Playing music with it is quite simple—though, naturally, it requires a great deal of technique. You simply have to slide your finger along the touch-sensitive strip located on one side, while using your other hand to open and close the Pac-Man's mouth to control the pitch of the notes. According to many people I’ve read about online, it is by no means easy to play, despite its straightforward mechanics.
What I like most is the happy expression on the little figure—which doubles as the instrument itself; it is definitely one of the most curious synthesizers out there. So, without further ado, let me show you how I went about painting it. To begin, I created the card's border—the frame that would contain the rest of the drawing.
After that, I drew the body of the Otamatone. I created this design using Adobe Illustrator. It was a bit tricky due to its many curves, but in the end, I managed to achieve an acceptable result. Take a look at how it turned out.
With those previous steps completed, the sketch was ready. Now comes the painting and coloring stage. I should mention that I chose a light green for the background; I selected this color based on the "lucky" symbol found on the original card—I liked the shade, so I decided to use it. For the border, I chose yellow, taking the color from the small star within the game's logo. The inner background—as is almost always the case—features various shades of blue, while the Otamatone itself is a light sky-blue. Now you can see how I added each detail in sequence; the very last touches were the funny Pac-Man-style face and the magnetic strip on one side. Here it is.
And to wrap things up for today, here is the final result. This is how it looked once it was finished. So, I'll see you for the next drawing! I wish you all a wonderful day filled with blessings. See you later!
