Utopian.io has many awesome things going on but I felt one thing was missing, a 3d printed Utopian.io Logo / Keychain :-)
In this Tutorial I will show how I created the Utopian.io keychain and my plans to promote and advertise utopian.io to 3d designers on Thingiverse.com
Design in Fusion 360
After checking with first that he is fine me using the utopian.io logo, I created an SVG image in Affinity designer in order to use it as a sketch in Fusion360. Fusion has great sketch capabilities but for more curvy shapes I still prefer a vector program.
With the Utopian.io .svg file ready, I imported the sketch in a 5x7cm box which I seems to be a good size for the keychain.
The next step was to Extrude the various shapes. Since I had to connect to inner circle with something I extruded a thin floor. The remaining Logo parts have been Extruded higher. The final result including beveled edges looks like this.
The final part in Fusion 360 was to add a 4mm whole for the keychain. I added another sketch on the Logo surface and added the whole to the position I thought looks best.
3d Print
Time for 3d printing the part. I exported the Utopian.io keychain as .stl file to my desktop and imported it to the Slic3r Software in order to send it to the printer. As you see in below gif, a 3d print is done in layers and is interesting to watch how it is building up.

Model on Thingiverse for Utopian.io promotion
The model is now uploaded on Thingiverse and will hopefully attract new users to visit Utopian.io and Steemit.com. I have added shortener links to Utopian and Steemit so that I can track how many Thingiverse users have actually clicked on the links. A stats summary will follow next month in a separate post.
Thank you and all the best!
