Welcome!
Allow me to share my story as a Digital Nomad
2009-late 2011 I do local freelancing gigs while competing on Crowdsourcing websites Like 99designs and Crowdspring.com. Later on led me to freelancing sites like elance.com, freelancer, and Odesk.com the places that I go to get some work and compete on crowd sourcing competition.
2012-2015, my early studio work is to create games specifically for iOS. Our main product is to create simple games that can be cloned and reskinned. I stayed there because the money is good. Until Apple implemented change how the App store work.
Creating Clones and reskins of games sucks the life out of me. I hate if when I just create something out of demand and tricking kids to press the Advertisement button.
2015-2017, I became Illustrator for a How-to website, Print on Demand Artist. Since the pay is per image, I worked like crazy and I can produce hundreds of image per month to meet my personal quota. When it comes to speed I'm used to it because of my Traditional training.
from 2009-2017, I play by numbers. Pre-studio(2009-2011) yrs when I compete on Crowdsourcing websites until I built a portfolio. The more image I make, the more money I get. YES, I know a little what it means to create something out of demand.
working like a slave. I know some of it is my fault because I agreed to take part on this cruel cycle. 2010-2016 I only have very few personal works, I did not even finished a single painting.
2017, the year I woke up. I decided to limit accepting online clients. I told my self that I will work on each piece as if its the last Art work that I will render. This is the year I decided to be a full time Visual Artist.
The time I was invited to take part of group exhibition I grab the opportunity. The Art gallery is like to this day I'm still grateful and thankful. The Gallery owner told me I can sell 1 drawing for 1$ honestly I was tempted, but I did not do that. In a day I can create 5-20 drawings if I want to. Basically the owner wants me to sell my drawing book. I declined to do sell my drawing, instead those drawings became gifts to friends and family.
2017- to this day while I still have some online clients but my way of living now is focused on creating Art. I made a promised to my self that I will only work on something that I can be truly honest and proud. No longer working to publish as many image as I can.
I still have more stories to tell, for now I need to sleep.
Good night.
