Yesterday I leafed through a map filled with 'The Monster of Disco' drawings and notes, when I found this cute, colorful, energetic piece of art, made by my 7 year old niece, Yumi.
It was based on two drawings that I had made on that same day, a week and a half ago.
I had tried to draw a DJ monster, as well as a disco dancing crowd of monsters(' silhouettes ), as pictured below.
Although I like my monster silhouettes, moving underneath the disco lights, I dislike the look of my devil bull DJ but, apparently, it was exactly what was needed to inspire my niece to come up with her awesome ( cat? ) DJ.
The way she drew the scene ( go back to the picture at the top ), makes it look like the DJ is standing on a stage, while a happy crowd ( of break dancers? ) is enjoying the show.
The crowd is going wild!
Also, yesterday, I jotted down some notes with crayons. The light yellow writing needed all off my focus and hawkish eye sight* to decipher.
In all honesty, I am more like a hawk that refuses to wear glasses.
Now, before I share that sentence or two:
When I say "they", I refer to the other monsters on the dance floor ( aside from 'the monster of disco' ), those who aim to distract him from the dancing, try to make him feel bad, etc. Think of the unhelpful, negative, worrying, fearful ( and so on ) voices inside of your head and you'll get the picture.
"When he dances and becomes whole with the pole
the other monsters merge with the light and their voices mix with the music.
The Monster of Disco levels up and transforms into 'The Monster of DJ'.
Now let me add the following to this:
He has lots of fun, mixing and scratching their usually unhelpful voices into samples that would make you laugh out loud if you heard them.
The other monsters are flabbergasted and can't help but move rhythmically to his music and go with the flow of the monster of DJ disco show.
THE END
Just Kidding
Although, in all honesty, I feel that this would make for a fun end to my book, don't you agree?
