So, I was getting my usual coffee and donut breakfast at my favorite place this morning. . Krispey Creme Donuts. . .
The location I was frequenting was not my usual stop and I figured I would turn the negative experience into a positive by sharing with my fellow Steemians a customer service tip on how not to be an asshole. I figure maybe it will shed light on how consumers interpret interactions with retail employees.
The negative experience was not because I was treated poorly. In fact, it was just the opposite. I arrived at this location right when they opened and decided to go inside as opposed to using the drive-thru. The friendly clerk took my order and out of no where appeared the manager who proceeded to kiss my ass, while chatting it up about the weather etc. . “Wow, what a nice place” I thought to myself. . . That was until the manager started to act like a split personality weirdo.
He continues to kiss my ass and be friendly, while being a total asshole to his employees. Treating the people who work for him like they are below the level of human being.
I went from thinking, “Wow what a nice place” to “ Wow, what a fake ass mother fucker. And if he continues to talk to his people like this I may have to throw my coffee on him!”
So fucking ignorant and fake! I’m getting my ass kissed for a $3 cup of coffe/donut and two seconds later he is bitching at people because the “rich blend” coffee wasn’t brewed yet . . It was only 2 minutes after the place opened by the way. . Not to mention his total “I’m above you” type attitude towards his co-workers. A real dick.
Zero leadership and people skills in this fella.
I felt like telling him that genuinely kind people are respectful to everyone, not just those buying their product or service.
If you happen to be working in an environment where you are face to face with your customers I suggest making sure you realize that not only is your interaction with them important, but also how you behave with everyone else. Some people actually pay attention and if you are only polite 1/3 time, eventually you will be realized as a fraud.
I will never be seen in this Krispey Kreme Donut shop again. It won’t stop me from visiting others because I’m addicted, but this asshole manager won’t get my $3. .
P.S. If any of you were wondering. My donut of choice is a vanilla long john. :)
