When I first saw this sign entering a beach on the South Island I thought it was some humourist's work, but then I noticed the very official looking Buller District Council logo. Then I remembered, after almost 2 weeks in New Zealand, that Kiwis - like their Aussie cousins - can be very direct if not at times blunt in expressing their views. Thankfully the weather that evening was very inhospitable so I never was tempted to violate the Council rules!
