Division trick process is quite similar to multiplication’s.
You already know the term, base.
Base is the a power of 10 closest to denomenator.
I will introduce another term, complement.
Complement is the value from base - denomenator.
Let’s solve the example.
- 1726 ÷ 96
- Base shall be 100.
- Complement is 100 - 96 = 04.
Length of the complement shall be equal to the number of zeros in base. - Numerator shall be positioned with separated.
Length of the numbers positioned on the right is equal to the number of zeros in base.
→ 17 | 26 - You shall position complement, seperated numerator one by one.
→ 04 | 17 | 26 - The first number of the first seperated numerator shall be written right below that number.
→ 04 | 17 | 26
| |
—————————
1 - Multiply 1 by each number in complement.
→ 1X0, 1X4 - Each of the calculated number shall be written right below each of number subsequent to the first digit number in numarator.
→ 04 | 17 | 26
| 0 | 4
—————————
1 - Repeat 7th process to the last number in the first seperated numerator.
- Sum up the numbers in the same position.
→ 04 | 17 | 26
| 0 | 4
| | 0(28)
—————————
1 7 | 9 4
→ Answer = 17 & Remainder = 94
