So as you may have seen from my DIY flagstone walkway post I had renters in my property for six years. The first three years we went and periodically checked on them. Keep in mind our renters were also employed by my husband and have been for many years. The last three years we did not check on the property. I am now A licensed realtor in the state of Georgia and realize that was a terrible idea. instead of being angry about it , I have decided to share our story with the hopes of helping others not make the same mistake.
We bought this 4000 square-foot home in the winter of 2008.
It was a Beautiful five bedroom 3 1/2 bath . The main floor boasts a living room breakfast area dining room kitchen Half bath laundry room and spacious master suite with Jacuzzi tub, separate shower, and enormous walk-in closet's.
The second floor had three bedrooms and one full bathroom. All of the carpet was destroyed and had to be removed and the paint choices left a lot to be desired.
The basement had a full bathroom, the kitchen, a built in movie theater with stadium seating, a bedroom, an office and a huge storage room. The renters said they had not gone in the basement in the last year and somehow there was black mold. Let me tell you ......Mold restoration is not cheap!
The pool pump equipment has been damaged and all of the plants were overgrown. We decided to build the flagstone walkway to match the repairs that had been done to the pool
My once beautiful pool had begun to fall apart and had frogs and other creatures living in it!
This is only the tip of the iceberg. I do not have photos of all the damage that was done. This is just to give you a general idea of the huge mess we encountered. I am also using this as my photo diary and will keep track of the progress and updates on here. Wish us luck in this enormous renovation project and be sure to follow me to track the progress.
