Okay, Its finally done. But first let me go over the final process to get it finished.
So it was all stained up when I last posted, so I put the electronics in.
I didn't have the ports in when I took these pictures cause I didn't have the right glue, but I did get them glued in. Around back you can see how I laid out the amp, batter and bluetooth receiver. I screwed in the amp, but I used velcro strips to attached the battery and bluetooth receiver so I can take them out to use on other things if I wish. Example.
Then I took the molding wood piece I had and made a frame, as well as the fabric in the picture below.
With that I made a speaker screen that fit in the front of the box. All I did to make the screen was wrap the fabric across the front and stapled it in the back with a staple gun. It was pretty easy. The frame though I had to make sure I measured and adjusted each side because my box isn't exactly square.
When I was all done, it looked like this.
I think it turned out looking pretty good. At least I like it.
Couple things though. The bluetooth receiver I got is not the best. If its plugged into the battery or amp(it has a usb port on it for charging things) it makes a noise, so you have to unplug the usb cord when you listen, but remember to leave the battery on for a while and plug it back in so it can charge back up. One more thing with the bluetooth, if it sits for a while, it stops working unless you turn it on and then back on again. This is a problem cause the hole I cut in the back doesn't allow for access. But I'm just going to reposition so I can reach a finger to it. Been using a wooden spoon handle in the mean time.
Another thing is the amp I got. It doesn't work like I think it should. Some how the stereo channels and sub channels are connected and how you adjust one side effects the other. Also the crossover knob doesn't work right either. So it took some fussing with to get it to sound alright. Which then brings me to the sound. So when I first fired it up, I didn't have the ports in and was pretty disappointed with the sound. Though as I let it just play, it did seem to get better. I don't know if there is a breaking in process for the speakers, like with an engine, but I did seem to get better to me. Then when I got the ports in, that help a lot more. I didn't think the ports would make that much of a difference. Then after messing with adjusting the amp for a while, I think I have it dialed in as good as it's going to get.
I did make a little video testing it out. I also played a couple other sources so you can see the difference between it and other speakers.
So there it is.
Now the real reason for all this was to see how using Steemit to fund a project would go. So I'm going to let this post site for a little while and see what this one earns. Then I will make the final post showing what I earned versus the costs of the project. I think I got the beer costs covered, but we'll see how much this speaker box cost me in the end, or maybe I'll end up with profit.
