When I returned home to Sweden my grandma said she found this old tealight cabin that I made for her when I was around 10 years old or so. It’s incredible that she kept it all this time and now more than 20 years later she said I should have it.
The idea I had when I made it was to build a tealight holder that was based on my grandparents house and barn.
My grandmother was very found of it but she said she wants me to have it now as a memory of all the good times we had there.
At a closer look you can definitely see that it’s a bit rough around the edges, but on the other hand that kind of gives it its charm.
You can use a real tealight for this as I made a chimney on both the house and the barn. Of course barns don’t usually have a chimney but for the function I had to add it. Now when I have these pieces put on the window pan I have decided to use LED tealights instead. It gives the same result.
Below is a picture of how it looks when it’s more dark in the room. Quite a cozy feeling you get by looking at it and I guess for me it’s a lot about the sentimental part of it.
I’m thinking of making a new piece soon and let’s see if my handcraft skills have improved a bit hehe.
