My youngest sister was born in mid-March, so she likes having a St. Patrick's Day theme for her birthday. It's been a while since I last wrote about it, but I do still make jewelry from time to time. Since she doesn't read my blog, I'll give you all a sneak peek!
Back when I worked for the local library, another librarian went on vacation to Ireland to visit family. She brought us souvenirs, and I got a ballpoint clicky pen with Irish patterns printed on the barrel. There was also a shamrock charm hanging off it.
When I recently needed a ballpoint pen, that one was the closest one. I found myself annoyed by the charm slapping my hand and wrist every time I wrote a new letter. I took the charm off, but instead of hurling it into the trash for its insolent behavior, I decided to set it aside with my jewelry supplies until inspiration struck.
Strike it did. I bent eyes into some beading wire, threaded on some leftover green Swarovski crystal glass bicone beads along with some neat silvery metallic beads, and locked it in by bending eyes again on the tail end. Then I attached it to some thin stainless steel chain.
I think she'll like it. What say you?
If you're not on Hive yet, I invite you to join through InLeo or PeakD. If you use either of my referral links, I'll even try to delegate some Hive Power to help you get started.
