If there was any time I wanted to rant and complain it's today! Actually, any day is as good as any other for it, but crikey, this one has right royally flummoxed us!
So, first of all, acknowledge the super coolness of the pop top you've been waiting to see. Excuse the dodgy photo, but it was via text from the trimmings guy that sewed it. We love it. It looks great.
Except.
It's white flywire mesh.
Now, this might not seem like a big deal to you but we asked for black. Also not a big deal, and we'd live with it, except every other pop top in the world has black mesh for a reason.
Black mesh absorbs the light, so it's much easier to see the view out of. It's also less attractive to insects, and make it cooler inside. The white mesh will just be milky and hard to see out of.
We found it so odd he made this decision when we'd spoken about the black mesh. He'd showed it to us, and we said that was perfect. Then he thought he'd make a decision to make it white, as he thought it looked better!
We had to go through the awful awkwardness of asking him to unpick and redo the whole thing - a nightmare job for him. We felt really bad for the guy and honestly if white would have done, I would have lived with it. He said he made that decision because of aesthetics, but whose? I wanted to scream at this point. At no point was white mesh ever part of the plan.
So, we have to wait another week for it to be done - a real bugger as there's a lot that needs to be done and we're behind on schedule.
At least he had a 'customer is right and needs to be happy' attitude, even if he said he didn't agree with us and seemed a bit put out.
But this is big for us - a big creative project we're super proud of, and we were the ones who would have to live with his error.
What would you have done?
With Love,
