I was surprised to hear that suicide was the leading cause of death among men under 45 in UK because it sounded both traic and messed up. There are so many bad things happenin in the world and at least few of them should happen more than suicide........... right? That's what I thought of. But it was just wishful thinking. I did some extra digging on the net and here's what I found:
- Suicide was the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34, and the fourth leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 35 and 54
- There were more than twice as many suicides (47,173) in the United States as there were homicides (19,510)
When all people are considered Suicide was the 10th leading cause of death overall in the United States. These stats are from the National Institute of Health in USA. After looking at these stats I don't feel the stats about UK to be all that unbelievable.
