There is only one event when youth from Vigan City come face to face with a farm hero, the carabao. It is the time when the city youth unite their ingenuity in creating pictures showing the city’s landscape, history, and culture by using seeds and broken tiles.
This is Viva Vigan Festival of the Arts held on the last week of April to the first week of May in the Heritage City of Vigan.
“This is where one witnesses how young boys and girls, teens and young adults, group themselves to synchronize a portrait using rice, corn, beans of several colors and sizes,” said Rodolfo Peralta, the city agriculture officer.
Peralta shared that painting the carabao has been a part of the festival since the last part of the ‘90s. It was called Karoo Festival back then.
