It would appear U.S. search giant Google shares the opinion that the worst could be over for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies...
I believe that the Ad bans that were put in place were an overreaction at the time. Certainly, something to contain the spate of scams and nonsense ICO hype that exploded as BTC reached its all time high was needed. However, the blanket ban was excessive and unneeded.
Having said that, this move by Google, following on from a similar shift from Facebook is a good thing. It is a cautious step from the tech giants, with regulated crypto exchanges now allowed to advertise. Ad's for ICO's, wallets and trading advice remain banned for now.
To quote from the article:
"Bitcoin is a technological breakthrough, with many applications beyond being a new, better form of money. While platforms such as Google and Facebook need to be mindful of false and malicious cryptocurrency ads, simply banning all ads was not the right thing to do,"
This is great news, and another sign that the big end of town is looking to engage and accept crypto as a valid and viable part of the financial system, instead of just trying to crush it. I personally believe that the best outcome for the crypto industry is not from overthrowing the mainstream. I think evolution from within is more mutually beneficial than revolution from outside. Every day there are more signs that crypto is being accepted by mainstream institutions and this is just another one of those.
Happy Days, surely this spate of good news will fuel the next bull run.
