Nike filed a trademark to launch a cryptocurrency called "CryptoKicks." With Bitcoin above $5,000, confidence in crypto is back. Can Nike outdo Facebook?
Just found this article and it has me excited. There is alot in this that has big potential to bring mainstream adoption into crypto. The downside is that their plans sound similar to STEEM in alot of ways.
“Provision of online blogs in the field of crypto-collectibles; entertainment services, namely, providing an online computer games… curated scavenger hunts, obstacle courses or treasure hunts; entertainment services, namely, providing interactive online mobile gaming applications; providing information on-line relating to crypto-collectible customization for hobby or entertainment purposes”
All this is stuff that happens on the STEEM blockchain and could be easily done if we ever get SMT's. Companies like Nike should be targeted by a "Sales and marketing" effort (if only we had one) to set up on STEEM instead of doing all the extra work to set up their own chain.
I am starting to fear that STEEM may be missing its first mover advantage, and more agressive and higher profile projects like TRON and EOS will capture some of this market that would be a great boost to STEEM.
What do you think? If Nike do launch cryptokicks, is it something that you would look to get involved in?
Thanks for reading and have a great day.
John.
