The SDA is taking Woolworths to Fair Work over changes that have forced store staff to apply for new roles, seek redeployment or take redundancy.
This will be an interesting case to watch unfold. I am unsure if anyone else here on STEEM works for Woolworths Australia, so I'll have to be cautious about what I say.
As someone directly affected by this restructure, I have some very strong opinions about the process that I will have to keep to myself. I will say that moral in store, across the board, has plummeted. We have a great store manager that has handled this shit sandwich really well. There are many stores, I believe, where up to half of the management team are off sick or on stress leave at the moment. I am not sure that the powers that be have thought through what they are putting people through.
Ironically, two of the companies stated core values are "we always do the right thing" and "we bring a little good to everyone, everyday". Maybe they should have kept a few of these signs professing these "core values" and put them up around the board room, instead of our lunch room.
Anyway, this is the filtered version of my views on the topic. I wish the SDA all the best with their action to refer the matter to the Fair Work Commission.
