President Donald Trump on Tuesday commuted the 14-year prison sentence handed out to Rod Blagojevich for political corruption, saying the former Illinois governor was a victim of the same prosecutorial overreach that Trump claims targeted him and clearing the way for Blagojevich's release after more than eight years behind bars.
The Republican president said the punishment imposed on the Chicago Democrat and one-time contestant on Trump's reality TV show "Celebrity Apprentice" was excessive.
