Another top-quality model engine from my youth and in the classic, era7 British Rail blue.
The Class 20, or English Electric type 1 has been a staple on the British rail network since the first one was produced in the English Electric Factory at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows in 1957 and 228 were built between 1957 and 1962 and so good were they with their reliable and simple build quality that a further 100 were ordered and produced between 1965 and 1967.
These old girls have performed every duty possible from goods and freight to passengers and departmental duties across the network and their are still a few in operation even today!
They were commonly known as 'Choppers' for reasons unknown and were a common sight on every geographical location on the network.
Another super model from Bachmann, and like all their diesels, this Class20 is available in different variations and colour schemes but for me, its always going to be the TOPS coded BR Blue from the '70s and '80s!
No sound or DCC as standard sadly but very reasonably priced at £139.95 and a great addition to any modern image layout!
