Former NFL quarterback Jared Lorenzen died Wednesday at the age of 38 after battling kidney and heart issues as well as an infection, his family announced.
Lorenzen earned a Super Bowl ring with the NY Giants and also held multiple records at the University of Kentucky. Lorenzen currently holds the UK record for most career passing yards at 10,354 but had also set records for total offense and passing touchdowns.
Lorenzen left playing football after injuries pulled him away from the field. That being said he didn't leave football. Instead Lorenzen went on to be the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) Commissioner. He has more recently been featured in ESPN's E:60 series around his journey towards weight loss.
My thoughts and prayers are certainly with his family and friends.
