It has been clear to me for some time that the IOC was obviously corrupt despite attempts to "reform." When you have so many governments vying for the prize of hosting such a large event there is going to be corruption. It's not shocking to hear that the Tokyo Olympics are already being pointed as an issue.
One part I've never understood is why the Olympics aren't hosted worldwide every four years. Instead of completely shutting down one city why not spread the events across the globe and allow one country to host swimming while another hosts basketball and so forth.
