Some time ago, there was information that Huawei would build its own map and navigation application. In addition to navigation, Map Kit is supposed to provide more advanced services, such as augmented reality. But now it appears that this project is at least somewhat on the sidelines, as the maps will now be provided by TomTom, a Dutch company instead of Google (Google Maps).
TomTom has sometimes been involved in several areas, and since last year has focused on maps and navigation applications (they sold telematics to Bridgeston). TomTom's spokesman Remco Meerstra confirmed the deal had been concluded for some time. However, he did not want to reveal other details.
