A few weeks ago I spent two days in a cabin in southern Ohio with the Miller Road Band, and we recorded some music, including this video of my song "Twisted Mind", which has never been released, and is now on @Dlive.
The multi-talented filmed, recorded, and edited this video, and
filmed as well, and I'm thankful for both of them.
The Miller Road Band (Miller siblings) are my nephews and nieces, and they are:
Andrew on the banjo, Carrie on violin/vocals, on the cello, and Emilie on violin/vocals.
"Twisted Mind" is about struggling with mental illness.
Lyrics:
I need something to change deep inside of you
I know every human is broken into two
And some mountains will kill you
And oceans are just so big, and deserts will run you dry
When the mind's in a million places
There's distance with all familiar faces
And if this ever changes you'll be the first to know
When the mind gets twisted around
Down is up and up is down
And every thought is a burden it's not as easy as
Letting it go
And this is what scares me, the thought to disappear
Is the only thought that seems a little more clear
Do we slip into heaven, or slide into hell
Or go back to the way it was before
When the mind's in a million places
There's distance with all familiar faces
And if this ever changes you'll be the first to know
When the mind starts drifting away
Day is night and night is day
Every thought is a burden it's not as easy as
Letting it go
I heard mother Teresa seemed to lose her way
And yet she lived as if all were okay
Oh father Abraham I still can't understand
If you would have killed your own
When the mind's in a million places
There's distance with all familiar faces
And if this ever changes you'll be the first to know
When the mind gets twisted around
Down is up and up is down
And every thought is a burden it's not as easy as
Letting it go
I need something to change deep inside of you
I know every human is broken into two
