When we were out yesterday getting baked alive at Ferry Meadows and watching the wildlife. I got a few clips of the scenes and put them together with some nice music for your enjoyment.
The tune is Swan Lake by a chap called Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) which I downloaded from one of those copyright free websites under the creative commons license.

Who knows if we will be able to do this in the very near future as there is a law going through the European parliament (Article 13) at the moment that will attempt to put a stop to using these kinds of resources for remixes and memes.
"Memes, remixes and other user-generated content could disappear online if the EU's proposed rules on copyright become law"
Many groups including the Electronic Frontier Foundation are opposing the proposed changes. Tim Berners Lee the inventor of the world wide web is pretty furious considering that he gave the world the web for free and now governments are trying to impose what amounts to censorship on his creation.

Of course the real culprits here are Google and YouTube who have exploited the current situation and encouraged creators to make mashups and remixes while paying them virtually nothing and reaping astronomical earnings themselves in the process.
Google and YouTube could quite easily have paid the existing copyright holders but why would they if they don't have too?
There greed has brought us to this current situation.
Could this be the end of memes and remixes? This is just the tip of the iceberg that is right in front of us denizens of the web.
Hope you enjoyed the movie. This post will survive on the block chain for future generations to look back at and wonder what the hell happened to freedom of expression?
