It all started when Nolan complained about a stuffy nose. His parents thought it was just a cold at first not until it became more difficult for him to breath. That November, the doctor discovered that a tumor was actually causing the blockage in his nasal passages. It was a type of cancer that grows on muscles, fat, as well as joints. Patients may suffer drooping eyelids, headaches, nausea, as well as difficulty urinating. After several attempts at chemotherapy and radiation treatment, Nolanโs hair soon fell out and his body grew weaker and weaker, as the cancer began to spread throughout his body. His survival rate was now between 40 percent to 20 percent. Nolan after one year of fighting, couldn't eat for days, since he was constantly vomiting. By February, the oncologist explained that the cancer had spread, and was restricting his bronchial tubes and heart after he had undergone open-chest surgery. The cancer had meanwhile become resistant to all forms of treatment.โWhen I brought Nolan to the hospital for the last time,โ Ruth shared on her post, โI knew there was something else wrong other than just a lingering case of C-DIFF. I just knew, and strange enough, I think he did too". During one of the last times she spoke to her son, Ruth said to him that he โdidnโt have to fight anymore,โ but he replied that he would fight for her sake. She shared the heartbreaking conversation they had:โ[Ruth]: Honey โฆ I canโt do that anymore here. The only way I can keep you safe is in Heaven. (My heart shattering)โNolan: Sooooo Iโll just go to Heaven and play until you get there! Youโll come right?โNolan slept for his last few days before passing away. ๐ฅ
