In that realm you have a great sensation of no oxygen. Not being able to breathe.
My theory is that the DMT experience is a bypass mechanism to the dream state while awake. Accessing the subconscious while still being conscious thus the conscious has more influence in the dream at that moment and attempts to remain in control but doesn't gain control yet have small influences of the experience. In the natural dream state/sleeping, the conscious basically has no influence or very little.
The subconscious is the chief commander in the dream state even while conscious. The subconscious language/communication is imagery.
