It is not a birthday but rather a day when we got my buddy Rosco. He has been at my side for three years now.
How we got him
My wife was hounding me to get a dog. I had already put it up for months maybe even years I don't know how long. But then the day came that she decided that we were gonna get a dog no matter what . So I started doing research on the Internet and I found the perfect breed for us. A basset hound or also known as the couch potato of dogs. So the search began. She quickly found a dog on craigslist. I was very hesitant as we have 2 small children and I did not want a full grown dog that had been mistreated or something and had violent tendencies. But at the end of the day I gave in and told her to go ahead and get the dog but don't bring it home if it's a barking piece of crap. I cannot stand a dog barks and barks and barks.
When we met
My wife opens the door to come into the house and at the end of the leash is the most rickety looking skeleton like dog I have seen in a long time .
At this point I don't know what to think.
Has this dog obviously been abused? Yes.
Are my kids safe around it? Who knows.
So I am instantly pissed off that anyone would treat a dog like this. My wife refuses to let me know who she got it from because she knows how that would go down. So I moved onto the task at hand. Getting some food and water in his belly. He quickly warmed up to me.
His Vet visit the next day revealed he was 15 pounds underweight.
Moving forward.
He was an instant fit for us. He never leaves my side now and loves car rides
He is also an expert snuggler and loves the kids.
He can tell when you are sick and won't leave your side.
So happy 3 year birthday or what ever you want to call it Mr fat man Rosco.
