"Field observations of cetaceans: Tursiops truncatus, Phocoena phocoena and Delphinus delphis in the Bulgarian exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the Black Sea"
Some years ago I had the chance to take a part in a project about research of the dolphins into the Bulgarian part of the Black sea(Black sea research program NOAH).
The year was 2014.Тhe duration of the project was a year and a half. In this period I had the chance to see thousands of this very cute and beautiful creatures.
In our sea here are 3 different species of dolphins.
The Common dolphin (Delphinus delphis) the Black Sea is considered an isolated discrete population.
Bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) is very common in nearshore waters.
Harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena ssp. Relicta). The smallest representative of cetaceans in the Black Sea.
Due to the semi-enclosed and isolated nature of our sea, these 3 species have evolved as endemic subspecies.
I am so exited to show some of my pictures to my friends here! I hope that they will arouse pleasant feelings to all of you here!
