It's been well over a week since I wrote about Donald Marshall, human cloning and more topics requested by . Many reasons for this hiatus including preoccupation with personal tasks, gardening season kick-off and looking for a new perspective on the topic(s).
Well... I have settled back in to the desk, laptop and DM topic and I'm here to discuss Dopplegangers versus clones. We've all heard the saying, "we all have a twin out there somewhere..."
You may have seen the TV show How I Met Your Mother and over the course of this comedy series all five of the lead stars/characters were in search of finding his or her Doppleganger living out there in the world; well, New York City to be exact. Over the time of the nine years that this show aired, all five of the characters came across and saw their Doppleganger.
What is a doppleganger? Dictionary's website defines it as: a ghostly double or counterpart of a living person
I first heard of the word Doppleganger in the Stephen King 1995 mini-series The Langoliers. I had no idea what a Doppleganger was at the time; but the show had me intrigued.
So... is a Doppleganger possibly the same as a clone? Let's discuss...

Doppleganger Versus Clone
In this above YT video, the creator The Conspiracy Factor compares about two dozens living famous people to people who have passed on. I recognized MOST of the living, none really of the deceased, but I have to admit there are a few that really made me think... hmmm... is their any genealogical lineage or famous trees connecting these people?
The video starts off with some text stating:
"My imagination got the best of me... The Clone, the Doppelganger and the Reincarnated HD..."
The ones that REALLY had me thinking were:
- Ellen DeGeneres
- Vladmimir Putin
- Eminem (which we have ALL heard about before)
- Queen Latifah (Yes her too- we've seen her name talked about)
- Hank Azaria
- Nicholas Cage (Heard of him before)
- Leonardo DiCaprio (Heard of him before but never knew he was compared to a dead woman)
- Eddie Murphy (Can't rightly remember for sure hearing about him)
- Kathy Bates (compared to a man. If you recall she played a dead version of Charlie on Two And A Half Men)
- Sylvester Stallone
- Bruce Willis
- Barack Obama (Yeah we've all heard this one too)
- Alec Baldwin (Yes heard of him before)
- Meshach Taylor (Yes I think I remember hearing about him)
So all these famous people look almost identical to the people from previous centuries and decades that have passed on... so is this a way of cloning someone (using his or her DNA after they have passed) to keep their ancestry, heritage or genes going? What was so special about these people (the ones who have passed on) that they were in dire need to be returned to the Earth in human form?
It's not as if I see a likeness of anyone walking the streets who could pass for Albert Einstein's brother... or sister. Or even Alexander Fleming, who re-discovered penicillin. What about Jimi Hendrix who has been declared the BEST guitar player ever in history? He has talent that no one has been able to duplicate.
There were more in the video like Charlie Sheen, Jack Black, Robert Pattinson, Michael Jackson (compared to an Egyptian Pharaoh), Justin Timberlake and more; but I just couldn't get myself to see enough in the two faces side-by-side to say yes... they were one in the same.
No A Doppleganger IS NOT The Same As A Human Clone- At Least I Don't Believe So
So the people in this video wouldn't be considered Doppleganger by the definition listed above; mainly because BOTH would have to be alive at the same time.
We all know the definition of a clone is basically an organism or cell produced asexually from one ancestor, gene or stock, to which two living creatures, mammals or amphibians are genetically identical. So... this sounds more like the answer to this question.
But why?
There were also two actors that the YT video creator mentioned trying to persuade the viewer(s) that they were actually clones.
Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who played NSA Whistleblower Edward Snowden in the Oliver Stone movie Snowden
So what are your thoughts? About Dopplegangers? Are they same as a clone?
I mean, I guess a clone could, and perhaps has been created, while the host or mother human is still alive. Just as a Doppleganger walks the same time of day as his or her look-a-like... and a Doppleganger is considered a mirror image of another person not necessarily taking on genetic features, personalities or thoughts, whereas a clone does have one, two or all three of the characteristics and attributes... so...
