Hi. I'm Kristen, with Duck Brand. Today I'll show you how to save money and energy by weatherizing your doors. There are two common areas that contribute to energy loss with doors, the small gaps on the tops and sides, as well as the larger gap on the bottom. By using heavy-duty weatherstrip seals on your door frame, you can prevent drafts coming from the top and sides of the door frame.
There are a variety of seals for all gap sizes, and once installed, can be left on all year long. Before you begin, it is important to clean the area of application first to ensure the adhesive backing sticks. Also, make sure to check the temperature of the door frame when applying adhesive, because there may be a minimum temperature requirement for the adhesive to stick. There are a variety of door bottom seals you can use to insulate your door bottom gaps. Some of them are installed using an adhesive backing, while others are screwed into the door itself. Door shoes fit snuggly under the entire door bottom to prevent drafts from coming through. You can also use door bottom seals on interior doors to control air flow from one room to another. Follow these tips to save energy by weatherizing your interior and exterior doors. .
