PSA="Public Service Announcement"
Usually college radio stations play a lot of PSAs for whatever local causes ask to be Announced on air. Double Eagle likes to do a lot of short songs, and we've found a lot of them can fall into this nice compartment of a PSA. The first official PSA by the IIE was PSA#1: Candyman:
This one was played on Radio Evolved by Atom Collector Records two weekends ago. I think I might submit PSA#2: Twice the Eagle for the show on Sunday. When we recorded that we must've laughed about it harder than I have ever laughed about something with someone else before. It's really short but it captures something...
The idea that has developed is to make these things into actual PSAs, in some more literal sense, by connecting them each to a charity when they go on Bandcamp. For PSA#1: Candyman, I have been looking for a good charity to donate profits to which provides dentist work for the underserved. You know, because candy gives you cavities. I haven't quite found the right charity which has an easy donate option but I'm sure there must be a good one. Let me know if you know of one, it can be based anywhere in the world as long as it helps people who need work on their teeth.
The charity for PSA#2: Twice the Eagle will be (although this one is not on Bandcamp yet) a charity which provides free math teaching for underserved students. First, I think that's a good cause. Second, I think to match that charity with this tune is hilarious. I'm not exactly sure why, but it is hilarious:
Anyway, the idea is for all money made from selling any PSA track on Bandcamp to go to the corresponding charity. I think it's a good idea and allows us to keep entertaining ourselves by writing these PSAs. We've discussed a full album of only PSAs, which could be genius.
