I was warned that lime plaster would soak up paint, and so it did....
50 litres in total - two coats on four walls....
The photos are very forgiving as they don't highlight the many blemishes in said walls due to the far from perfect finish on the render.
Trust me, there is SO MUCH render on these walls another coat before painting was just out of the question, and besides my brain-thing told me another coat would probably just fall off anyway, so I just painted over the crude second rendering that was there already.
But it looks OK - and I mean this isn't a first house, and I'm not planning on selling or renting it, so it's only me that's got to put up with it...
This is the 'front wall' after two coats...
Oh I did the roof beams and window, door frames last week...
Here's the back wall after one coat - I took photos as something to do while letting this dry, it was the final wall to get a second coat of white..
I was a bit slack also with the bottles embedded in the wall, I figure a bit of water and the paint will wash off easy enough...
Finally, the fact that the house is now painted and looks almost normal, it's highlighted just how much I need to replace this door....
I really wasn't very well organised for the job...
I should have had sheets down, but I didn't have any sheets so I just made do with a bin liner, and the roller, I tried, but it wasn't the right tool - so I just used a brush for the whole job, it was better on the uneven wall surfaces.
Oh, and on the final day I had to paint in my pants - I forgot my overalls so I opted to take my good trousers off rather than get paint all over them!
Next steps...
Next I'll paint the two side walls in a nice (hideous) orange colour - I get free-hand the edges too as tape really won't work on an uneven wall - if I attempt to use it the paint will just bleed under in several places.
So now doubt that will end up looking fucking terrible.
I will probably just leave the two large walls white - the colour they are, I can live with a neutral white, otherwise I'll have to spend around 30 EU on a slightly different off-white which seems excessive!
And of course I need to clean off the floor tiles - WHY I didn't use tape on the floor I don't know I did have some, but at least it doesn't take too long to wash off these tiles - they are very forgiving!
Then it's just a matter of kicking back and watching the walls decay gradually.
