What?! You Shortchanged Us Again!
I didn't know you cared. Seriously. I didn't.
Someone (okay, it was me) decided to draw a two-page spread of the backside of the dome structure. So, Thursday's post will have three pages. Okay?
Whatever. Let's Get This Over With.
Maestro, if you please...
Our hero, Cal Havenbrook (he has a name!), is still searching for his former middle school English teacher, Ms. Moreman, who was kidnapped by a soldier-of-fortune by orders of Damontroth, who may or may not be the Omni, who may or may not have powers like Cal, who may or may not be him. Confused? It gets worse, so read on!
Our forest dwelling heroine (still unnamed) has had a rough go of things, dealing with Cal who hasn't been the best of soulmates so far, watching her former fiancé die in front of her, having her hair disappear only to grow to impossible heights, and she's been slapped by a being that may or may not have been her father. All in all, not a good time.
So a huge fast talking dragon wearing Ray Bans shows up and treats Cal like they're best buddies. Cal does the same, either under the influence of the mind control power he apparently has, or he's just getting better at playing along. Regardless, their repartee is fast and hard.
Our young heroine wakes up only to find the dragon towering over them, so she does what any self-respecting forest dwelling girl would do, she screams. Cal tells the dragon to back off, which then demands to know what's going on. Cal answers, "You tell me."
Whoa. Soul? Genetic code. Those are two things you don't often here in combination, as if they were somehow related. (What was I thinking?) Regardless, you have to admit, that's one perceptive dragon. Which makes this Damontroth fellow even more mysterious. Obviously, there's a connection between him and Cal that even fools the genetically perceptive fire breather.
Wait. Did it just call him Tallis?
Another name? We're starting to pick them up quickly now. We go pages without them, and the next thing you know...
Hey, what is it doing! Hey, stop! He said diversion not...
Whoa. I was starting to sweat there. Kind of an abrupt ending if both of them had just died by incineration. Not totally unbelievable, though, considering it's a dragon!
Now, even she's confused as to what's going on. Cal/Tallis has some 'splainin' to do!
Okay. Just when you thought it couldn't get any weirder. Cal and Damontroth are connected and their both this Tallis dude also known as The Omni?
Page 33 will go down history as the name page. I've just decreed it. Now, we finally know what her name is. Aevea, or The Chosen.
Like that's original. Kind of think of it, it was more original 32 years ago.
And now we have an answer as to who Queeny was a few pages back. Amazing! How did we end up with so many answers?
That was a question wasn't it. Which means...
Sigh. Okay. It's over. Cue the rest of the queries.
How does the dragon scan someone's genetic code? How can Damontroth and Cal be this dude Tallis? Will Cal and Aevea finally manage to stop quarreling?
We probably won't ever find out, but hey, if we do, it'll be another historic day, so be here next time for—Outworlder #1!
