Final Image
Let's draw this wild child princess... I just think she looks like a post apocalyptic beauty. This is the kind of fantasy I just love to draw and will be doing new drawings like this on Steemit. That's the great thing about Steemit - it encourages people to share what they got! It also helps develop your talents as you are thrilled about posting what you're doing and maybe make some Steem. That's what I am doing - reinvesting my Steem. Love to all Steemians!
I am also trying to discipline myself to take images of each stage. Sometimes I get carried away and forget and next thing you know the drawing is done and... it's too late.
So, let's see how I do in the next few weeks and months.
Trying to do a new drawing every few days, depending on life of course!
Here is the final drawing!
Here is my first quick sketch!
This is where I started and from here I start to fill out the drawing.
Next Stage - Structure
At this stage I am still fixing the basic structure. For instance the eyes are looking a little buggy above - and I am working on where the eyes are looking and the where the eye-lids are landing on the eye.
Also filling out the structure of the hair.
Still Building And Starting Shading
Start shading around the mouth and continue blending the shape of the cheeks etc. Notice that I also put an arrow on the top left corner - this reminds me during the drawing where the light is coming from. What's fun about learning about light is that whereever you bring the light from makes the drawing very different.
Believe me if I don't constantly think about the light - I can get lost in the drawing.
Shading And Textures
Continue shading thinking about where the light is coming from and estimate where the light hits the features of her face and hair. Shade the darker side of her face and around eyes and nose, firming up the darker areas. Sometimes this takes a lot of fiddling around until you like it. Remember there is no real right or wrong.
Also added some "cast shadow" to the hair shadows on her skin.
Added textures to the hair and fabric...
Adding Details and Shading Shading Shading
It is always so fun to add the details, like beads on the hair, good time to add tattoos or any kind of jewellery. Choose what you want to add.
Filling out the hair and the shadows.
Voila - after lots of work and smoothing out your graphite you have a final drawing.
On this drawing I also used a bit of black ink on the final stage - darkening up my blacks.
This just gives some punch to my drawing. Want to find a good white ink to use on my drawings sometime in the future also. Have a white ink pen but it doesn't work very well. So... gonna invest in some real white ink. I could do digitally of course but I want these drawings to be purely pencil, eraser, sharpener, and possibly some ink.
Also, I do invest in good drawing paper.
It's so much fun at the end of your drawing to add some magic to the lowest lights and the highest lights.
