Hello Steemians! Today I'll be talking about one of the most common Japanese equipments owned by the Ninjas : A Kunai.
According to wikipedia:
A kunai (苦無 kunai) is a Japanese tool originally meant for farming in the Tensho Era of Japan (1573–1592). Although a basic tool, in the hands of a martial arts expert, the kunai could be used as a multi-functional weapon, popular before the wide spread of firearms.
A basic kunai consists of a blade attached to a small metal handle wrapped in cloth strips (bandages) with a ring at the end. It's shape is mostly designed to allow it to rapidly cut through air when thrown at an enemy. The cloth strips provide a firm grip to the beholder which cannot be achieved with a smooth metal rear.
Kunai serves a number of purpose to a Ninja. They can be used as a knife, a digging tool, a stabbing weapon, a rock/wall climbing tool as well as a throwing knife. A Ninja may also use it to distract the enemy or strike at them from a distance without being seen. It can also be used to check for sneak traps or enemies.
Kunai were adapted as weapons because of the cheap cost of production of farming tools. With a little improvement and training, the Kunai became one of the most commonly used weapon which could even assist in hand to hand combat.
The basic shape of a Kunai is a diamond-shaped front. However, a number of variations of the Kunai can be seen in Japanese Anime and Manga. Not only do they vary in shape, the size may also be different. I've drawn some of them below.
That was all for today.
Thanks a lot for visiting.
I hope you had a fun time reading!
Have a nice day~~ 😘😘😘
