Last week I posted about a whisky I had been given as a present. Today I report on another. I was not familiar with Cardhu, but they go back two hundred years. The name means 'black rock' in Gaelic.
It came in a gift box with a nice bottle that has a big stopper rather than a screw cap. I am sure there is a big industry in making custom bottle for all the distilleries.
It is fairly light in colour. Drunk straight it had a bit of a kick, but a little water softened it. This site says it is a sweeter whisky that is easy to drink and I can agree with that. There is some flavour of toffee to it.
You may notice my glass is from the House of Commons. I think this may have been bought by a family member who visited there. I am sure they have a gift shop. What you may not be able to buy there is a bottle like this one that is signed by our former prime minister Tony Blair. You will notice it is empty. It was passed onto me with some of the whisky remaining and I drank it a while ago. I think I enjoyed it, but do not recall details of the taste.
I am sure some people collect the bottles, but I may not have room for too many unless they are really special.
Drink responsibly and enjoy it.
