Hi all, I spend about 20 hours driving each week and have noticed many annoyances on the road. Here's a list of good rules to follow while driving.
Use your turn signals
They're there for other drivers, you know you're turning, indicators tell everyone else, even the drivers you don't see.Use your turn signals BEFORE you turn.
Mid-turn signaling is useless... And doesn't tell other drivers why you're coming to a stop. When merging, do so at the first opportunity.
Taking your time or trying to gain a better position adds anxiety and/or defensiveness to other drivers. This can create a jam and slow the overall flow of traffic. If someone is trying to merge near you, speed up or slow down, don't coast next to them. (Same goes for the merger)
On ramps do not last forever, be courtious, active, and aware.Don't change lanes for a hope at faster speeds.
It's fine to pass, but don't do it blindly. Sometimes there is traffic you don't see. It's often a "grass is greener" scenerio, when in reality your lane shift negatively affect the flow of traffic.
I call many of these occurrences micro-inefficiencies they seem as though they should be common knowledge but I notice them everywhere all the time. I have many more to list, but frankly don't know that any of you will care for the ramblings of an angry driver! So if you'd like to read more, or disagree with anything, please let me know! Thanks for reading.
