We don't get good ice every year this far out in the archipelago. When the ocean freezes strong enough to carry us and even an atv, life gets much easier.
The hardest part of the year is when we can't use our boats due to surface of the water freezing but not being strong enough to walk or drive on. This is called "menföre" in Swedish (not even sure if there is such a word in english..?).
Back when I was a child and even further back, almost every winter had ice strong enough to travel upon but nowadays the climate doesn't guarantee cold enough winters in southern Finland. This means that every now and then when we finally get a colder winter and ice, we sure enjoy it fully :)
My poor drone had been sitting in its bag for a while when I finally got it updated (and my own drone-pilot papers) and ready to fly.
Have a look at some winter'n'ice drone videos!
