I.
The ordinary bundled itself, a dazzling parcel
To be sold through a harrowing stare
From a heart twisting in the revelation
Of its own mortality.
Futility pumping through the veins of the recipient
And the giver, vanished traceless on high,
Drips the nectar through an ebony sky.
A newspaper crumple in the heavens with a guffaw,
Rubbish bouncing between ear and the temple pillars,
The peek of turquoise grass between the pavement
That screams its omnipresence through a mild winter.
Everything is hurtling towards the conclusion:
Meandering or blasting through pomp and circumstance
Flicking crumbs of truth through the decorative bows.
Are you ready to meet yourself faceless?
II.
The ordinary primes itself for unraveling,
The flash charge of its engines comes
Through mundane conversation,
Empty with vagaries and repetition.
In a single day the baby becomes an old man
And perishes; the ash of the corpse fashioned
Into a golden seed-ring springs up, a human oak.
The grove of absurdity flourishes its unreal species,
Amoebic spectres flashing wine-red, silver in the
Hyperluminescent dawn. Wingtips green, black hands,
Purple coral-eyes harsh scald the imagination
And scold any seer-of-them for the sheer hallucination.
You crafted the image, let the weird syllables
Carve an inverted waterfall to flow the crepuscular ridge;
You dammed the spinal flow and conjured monstrosities,
wrapped with tinsel and sparkles and bows to haunt you
In the stagnancy of ignorant stars.
Everything is melting the façade,
Pummeled with abstruse intimation
The spirit gives itself over in a cornucopia of hay
And humility; The heart comes to the precipice of
Comprehension and flings itself into the well
Of the sweet unknown:
Giving up parcels and presents and string
For certitude of livingless loss
and the givingless light to eternally sing.
