The only instrument I was able to bring to China was a harmonica, so maybe a little instrumental will be coming to Steemit soon, but for now I found a raw recording of a song I wrote called "Leave Ohio". I wrote most of it a while ago, but last month I changed a few more lyrics, and recorded it right before I left Ohio.
This song is about a fellow who got out of a relationship that he never should have been in in the first place. It's pretty close to home as a dear friend of mine happened to be in this situation. For eight dark years he was married to a woman who was, how can I say it...just terrible. I don't typically celebrate a divorce, but the death of that relationship warms my heart every time I think about it.
I hope you enjoy this song. It's not my finest moment, but is fun to sing.
Thanks again everyone for your support, and to @Dsound for this platform!
Lyrics:
Someday I’m gonna leave Ohio and when I do I’m gonna let you know
Maybe I’ll drive all the way to the ocean
Or make my way into Mexico
I walked through your desert til the words were spoken
I fought in your battle til the vows were broken
8 long years and now they’re gone
But at least I’m not still hanging on
Someday I’m gonna make some money
And when I do maybe you will see
Me drive right by in a brand new chevy
And maybe then you’ll want my company
I walked through your desert til the words were spoken
I fought in your battle til the vows were broken
8 long years and now they’re gone
But at least I’m not still hanging on
Someday I’m gonna be on TV
And the radio show where you’ll hear my name
I’ll be talking about all my inspiration
And the source for all my pain
I walked through your desert til the words were spoken
I fought in your battle til the vows were broken
8 long years and now they’re gone
But at least I’m not still hanging on
