Sometimes love can come at you pretty fast, and leave even faster.
I've noticed a pattern over the years with certain friends of mine who get so excited about finding "the one", until it turns out that that person wasn't the one after all, and this happens over and over again, when there really wasn't much there in the first place. "Ruby" came from this idea. It's about someone who falls in and out of love in the same night.
I wrote it last month, but was unable to find some time to record it until this morning, so I'm sharing this song for the first time today. Lately I've been posting songs with heavy topics, but this one is a little less serious, so I hope you enjoy the contrast.
Thanks again everyone for the comments and resteems, and to @DSound as well!
Lyrics:
There were lights on the dance floor and fire in your eyes
There was love in your whispers such lovely lies
The more tender the moment the deeper the bruise
The more you gain the more you lose
O Ruby I thought that we were different
that we had something that it was true
Oh Ruby I would have walked the desert
Or climbed a mountain to be with you
He was handsome and heavy and high as a kite
And he came in ready like a fox in the night
You fell for his whispers you fell for his lies
And we disappeared as you said your goodbyes
O Ruby I thought that we were different
that we had something that it was true
Oh Ruby I would have walked the desert
Or climbed a mountain to be with you
And is there hope for the hopeless or sight for the blind?
Is there love on this earth is there peace of mind?
Is there solace and beauty will flowers still grow?
Oh Ruby I’d like to know
O Ruby I thought that we were different
that we had something that it was true
Oh Ruby I would have walked the desert
Or climbed a mountain to be with you
