Years ago a friend of mine went through a divorce and really suffered. In some ways, it seemed similar to how someone processes death, and I was moved by the depth of his grief. It was a dark time for all involved. This song, "Empty Without Her" came from that place. It's such a sad tune that I don't play it live very often, but when I do, love the violin and cello my niece and nephew add to my guitar, which can be heard in this recording.

Lyrics:
The garden’s full of weeds and the porch is full of leaves
And the grass is now a field
Oh the coffee it grows cold and lights are never on
And music is an echo from the past
Oh I guess I have a home
But if you come you’ll be alone
You're gonna find it's empty without her
And in an upstairs’ room the TV’s never off
It’s voice pierces the gloom
In the glow of its light there’s a shadow of a man
A man that’s now a memory
Oh I guess I have a home
But if you come you’ll be alone
You're gonna find it's empty without her
He’s a memory of the past of a time so long ago
Of a time that never really was
And if you wonder why she left then you will never know
Because some things are better left unsaid
Oh I guess I have a home
But if you come you’ll be alone
You're gonna find it's empty without her
