It's 2018 and immigration will continue to be a hot topic here in the U.S. So much so that a brilliant friend of mine, Emmanuel Chirume, came up with AlieNation.
The idea behind this project came about because some people who are trying to come to this country to live have been alienated by known subject Donald Trump. It has gone to the point that he insists on building a wall to keep others out of the country. As a matter of fact AlieNation has a layered meaning and consists of music, spoken word and visuals.
On one hand alienation means the feeling that you have no connection with the people around you. This is what some people trying to start new life here in the states feel.
Also remember that the U.S. was heavily populated by immigrants. What is ironic is that Trump/the government wants to ban some people. But people that look like him came here whenever they wanted, even uninvited I might add. The US is literally an alien nation made up of foreigners. Well all except the natives who were here first but I'll save that discussion for another time.
So to that I say enjoy this score I created as an homage to immigrants looking to start a new life and to those who feel alienated and left out.
What is immigration like in your country? Are you an immigrant from another country?
