Mad World Music
This is my entry for the amazing "Mad World Music" contest made by
I've made it on time today 3h before the deadline to enter this cool contest, but little do you know I made almost the whole thing just few days after the contest announcement was made, just could not finish until now, so here it goes, the list of items and whatnots I've used to arrange the song.
Items in the order of appearance
Our bed is basically a elevated wooden board with a thick shiatsu mat on it, so it is very convenient to make a good bassy kicks with it, if I only had a mic to get those subs it would be awesome, but still ended up as a decent kick and snareish sample.
Seemed kinda funny to include this black kitten bell in the song as one of the percussion instruments, it basically just stays on the shelf doing nothing so I thought to give it some work for a change.
Known as one of the best tambourine replacements next to a rice box, I thought I'd go with my mothers coffee box, also I don't drink coffee, and if I was I wouldn't drink this one.
I paired the hairbrush and the acorn with the coffee box to give that shake a more mid freq shake in the first part of the song, sort of like a closed tambourine mimic.
I've used a zipper from this mouth harmonica box to mimic sort of a vinyl scratch for some fun.
To side the kick and the snare I made by banging on the bed, I did some beatboxing as well.
The only conventional instrument used is glockenspiel in the last 3-4 bars of the song, everything else is done vocally or by shaking and punching stuff :) I've made 7 separate layers of vocals next to the items above, and some reverb.
