So here is another tune from the basement. This time I will tease your ears with … microtonal music! Tadaa! To the unacquainted ear it will sound to the ears like a root canal treatment without novocaine. When listening to that kind of music you might get the impulse to kick someone in the teeth with a steel cap boot. (Stop listening if the danger of that happening might arise!). To the acquainted ear it will be pleasing and tickle your brain.
I picked up the enthusiasm for microtonal music pretty early on, in search of more ways to express what the world sounds like to me. At first everything always sounds spooky and off. But discovering more and more of the possibilities of micro tuning, it became a desire to compose music, that transports more than just armagedonish kakophonia. Still working on it by the way.
The scale used in this song is derived from ancient greek tunings, discovered through archeologists digging out old flutes. Reconstructing the scales, seven modes have been recreated. In this tune the Hypophrygian scale is used (or Jupiter scale; hence the name).
There will be more posts and a call for collaboration on microtonal music coming very soon. It is a music form, that has great future potential and it would be fun and challenging to create music today, that could inspire what may come further down the road. I have tuning files ready for free. They can be used in several software synthesisers. If anyone is interested, just write me.

So, hier ist noch ein Lied aus dem Kämmerchen. Dieses mal ärgere ich eure Gehörgänge … mit mikrotonaler Musik! Tadaa! Für das ungeübte Ohr kann es klingen wie eine Wurzelbehandlung ohne Betäubung. Beim Zuhören könnte es auch geschehen, daß man den Impuls kriegt jemanden mit einem Stahlkappenstiefel in die Zähne zu treten. (Sollten solche Gefühle beim Zuhören aufsteigen schaltet sofort aus!). Für das geübte Ohr allerdings wird es angenehm sein und das Gehirn kitzeln.
Der Enthusiasmus für die mikrotonale Musik began recht früh, als ich nach weiteren Möglichkeiten des Ausdruckes suchte. Zu Beginn klang jedes Lied spukig und schräg. Aber umso mehr die Möglichkeiten austariert wurden, umso mehr entstand der Drang etwas anderes zu komponieren ausser Weltuntergangs-Kakophonie. Ich probiere noch daran rum.
Die hier verwendete Skala bedient sich alter griechischer Modi. Bei Ausgrabungen wurden alte Flöten entdeckt, die dann untersucht und rekonstruiert ihren Eingang in die Musikwelt fanden. Sieben Skalen hat man entdeckt. Die hier verwendete ist die Hypophrygische (oder Jupiter-Skala; daher der Name).
Es kommen mehr Posts zu diesem interessanten Thema und ich hoffe es finden sich hier einige, die Lust auf eine Zusammenarbeit haben. Diese Musik stellt zukünftiges dar und es wäre eine unterhaltsame Herausforderung heute schon Musik zu schreiben, die zukunftspotential in sich birgt. Ich habe hier auch Tuning-Files für diverse software Synthesizer. Falls jemand Interesse hat, dann einfach anschreiben.
